Department of Telecommunications and ICT

Services for industry

Telecommunications and Teleinformatics Department has comprehensive facilities and experienced research staff, capable of performing research and other tasks (including building of prototypes or small scale production of devices and specialized instruments) for external clients. Each of the KTT research labs has access to specialized laboratories, which also provide services to external clients:

  • Laboratory of Electromagnetic Compatibility (LKE)
  • Laboratory of Electromagnetic Field Standards and Measurements (LWiMP)
  • Laboratory of Antenna Technology (LTA)
  • Laboratory of Integrated Telecommunications Systems (LZST)
  • Laboratory of Terahertz Technology (LTHz)

KTT offers specialized analysis and expert opinions within the competence of any of the above laboratories. Telecommunications and Teleinformatics Department also provides analysis and planning services for terrestrial and satellite radiocommunication networks as well as a wide range of consulting services pertaining to telecom and IT networks.

Certified Laboratory of Electromagnetic Compatibility performs testing and assessment of devices and systems in view of electromagnetic compatibility requirements, which includes: measurement of emissions from single-phase electrical and electronics devices, assessment of immunity to continuous and pulse interferences for single-phase electrical and electronics devices, testing of coaxial cables, testing of cable TV devices, evaluation of shielding efficiency of enclosures as well as shielding materials, radiocommunication related tests and measurements, verification (calibration) testing of pulse generating equipment used for EMI testing. Since September 2004 LKE has its own 7,78m (L) x 4,34m (W) x 3,09m (H) reverberation chamber, allowing for assessment of device and system immunity to electromagnetic fields as well as measurements of emissions in the 112 MHz to 40 GHz frequency range, In accordance to the Polish Standard PN-EN 61000-4-21.

This laboratory specializes in electromagnetic field measurements, especially in view of field generation standards for calibration of measurement devices, and - in cooperation with the Electromagnetic Environment Protection Lab (Pracownia Ochrony Środowiska Elektromagnetycznego), developing and building measurement equipment as well as protective measures against electromagnetic fields. LWiMP offers electromagnetic field measurement equipment calibration for frequencies up to 50 GHz, being certified as a Calibration Laboratory - AP 078, issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (Polskie Centrum Akredytacji), it can also perform measurements of electromagnetic fields for environmental and health / occupational safety purposes, for frequencies up to 50 GHz, having a Accredited Research Laboratory certificate No. AB 361.

This laboratory concentrates on scientific research in the field of antenna measurements as well as circuit (e.g. SWR) and field measurements (gain, radiation patterns etc.) of antennas. The main 'device' of this laboratory consists of a shielded anechoic chamber with a stand for measurements of field and circuit parameters of antennas, the laboratory also has access to an open field for assessment of large antennas, and also has all the necessary measurement equipment, which includes scalar and vector network analyzers for frequencies ranging from 30 MHz to 30 GHz.

Laboratory of Integrated Telecommunications Systems performs research and measurements in the field of copper and fiber optic transmissions used by access and transport networks (ISDN, xDSL, FITL, PDH, SDH) as well as diagnostics of telecommunication system, switching equipment as well as terminal devices. The laboratory also offers services to external clients, providing expert opinions in the field of copper and fiber optic communications (switching equipment, data transmission systems, access and transport networks) as well as conducting analysis and developing growth and migration strategies for new telecommunication solutions.

Laboratory of Terahertz Technology performs works related to detection and identification of materials from branches like pharmacy, food industry, biomedicine, and civil as well as military security
